WORKSITE LOCATIONS
Alberta, Canada
Our security gate worksites can be one or more hours from the nearest town and are primarily located in the beautiful woodland areas of NW Alberta.
Depending on the work location, we generally operate these sites 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and are comprised of teams working shifts.
Our construction and plant sites are mostly located in Central Alberta.
At these locations, we provide services 7 nights per week, with some day shifts on weekends and STAT holidays
TRAVEL
To Remote Locations
-
As a Security Guard at a remote location, you live and work right on-site during your shift.
-
Your only travel requirement is in to the site to start your shift in, and out for your days off.
-
You will drive on gravel roads in varied weather, therefore a pick-up truck or SUV with 4x4 or All-Wheel drive is ideal.
SCHEDULE
To suit your lifestyle
-
There are opportunities for year-round and seasonal sites.
-
A common work schedule that many choose is 2-3 weeks on / 2-3 weeks off.
-
Winter season is the busiest from freeze-up to spring break-up (October to Mid-March). This schedule is ideal for those who seek time off in Spring and Summer.
-
Each person/couple is unique in their ability and desire for the length of time they wish to cycle in and out of worksites: some couples work longer shifts over the winter months in order to take more time off each summer.
-
Our work is per contract, which means schedules vary. We will work with you to develop a work schedule that suits your lifestyle.
WHO WE ARE
Service Masters Security is a 100% women-owned company that recruits our personnel from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life. Currently, 60% of our employees and contractors are women and 20% of our contractors are Indigenous people. With input and feedback from Indigenous communities and members, prime contractors, and SMS personnel, we are continuously exploring meaningful ways that we can engage together to promote and support the social, economic, cultural, and political well-being of Indigenous Peoples in Alberta. We are working on understanding the barriers that may affect all potential workers and developing training support programs for all workers. Our goal is to create and maintain a diverse team and a respectful environment that offers long-term employment opportunities for everyone, which includes promoting Indigenous inclusion by actively seeking to hire Indigenous people from the local communities in the areas we work.
Information or Couples:
-
Semi-retired contract worker couples (married / common-law / partners) are ideal for these locations.
-
Housing on remote worksite locations is similar to a small mobile home, and includes one bedroom, one bathroom, and one kitchen, in addition to an office area.
-
Working at a remote security gate allows couples to develop a work-life balance that allows for the same schedule: same work days on, and same days off.
Information for Singles:
-
Single contract workers may be paired with other single workers. These workers are allocated to worksite locations that feature two-bedroom, two-bathroom living quarters.
-
Single workers who thrive in autonomy in the Central Alberta area may be ideal candidates for our Construction and Plant sites.

TESTIMONIALS
Having only worked here for a little while now, I can tell you this job is fantastic.12 hr shifts fly by, I feel at home in the work shack and don't want for anything during my shift. The location I have been to is quite nice, and I have been able to go for many walks in the morning before my shift in this beautiful forest/mountain setting. My downtime I spend in my own private space, while my cross-shift partner is helping our traffic. The onboarding and training process was painless and quick, from receiving any necessary HSE and ticketed training to implementation field training. Highly recommend this job to anyone who would like to work with their partner/spouse as this is an ideal set-up to still have your own space, however, be together. As an individual myself, I have worked with a few different individuals as well and have nothing but nice things to say about the people I have worked with. Overall fantastic place to work and staff to work with!
